The Samye Monastery was the first Buddhist temple built in Tibet from the patronage of King Trisong Detsun and the spiritual power of the Nirmanakaya Buddha Padmasambhava. Built as a mandala the main hall has three floors representing India China and Tibet. The four stupas represent the four continents and the two side halls represent the sun and moon. Samye has a vast array of miracles and magical signs. There are many rang jung self emanating statues and many great masters have left their hand prints foot prints and other such signs of magical powers in the rocks and caves around the temple.
